Which Salary Grade got the Biggest Cut in the Salary Increase for FY 2024?
We are interested to know which Salary Grade got the highest salary increase for FY 2024.
We made a quick comparison of the Salary Schedule for the 1st Tranche Salary Increase per Executive Order No. 64, s. 2024 (effective January 1, 2024) and the 4th Tranche Salary Increase per National Budget Circular No. 591, s. 2023 (effective January 1, 2023) to find out which salary grade got the highest increase.
To recall, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said that if the Salary Adjustment will be approved, government officials and employees may get from 2% up to 8% increase in their monthly salary.
We are interested to know if the same holds true with the approved Executive Order implementing the salary increase.
Here’s what we found in the comparison that we’ve conducted. The lowest increase is 2% and the highest increase is 6%. Below are the details per salary grade.
Salary Grades 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 got an increase of 4%; Salary Grades 9 to 24 got an increase of 5%; Salary Grades 25 to 30 also got an increase of 4%; while Salary Grades 31 to 33 got an increase of 2%.
Based on the simple comparison that we have made, Salary Grade 5 got the highest increase of 6%.
We do not know the exact reason this time why Salary Grade 5 gets the biggest chunk in terms of percentage increase. In 2021, we made the same comparison and Salary Grade 11 got the highest raise that year. That’s also the year when SSL V was first implemented.
Wondered whose Salary Grade got the highest raise in terms of peso amount? It’s Salary Grade 33 with an increase of ₱9,850.00. No question about it since this Salary Grade is for the highest ranking official and the hardest position in the Philippine government — the President. However, in terms of percentage increase, Salary Grade 33 got the lowest increase of 2.35%.
