7 Government Jobs Which May Not Be Suitable For a Work From Home Arrangement

The Civil Service Commission has issued Memorandum Circular No. 10 to prescribe alternative work arrangements that government agencies may adopt while the entire country is still under a state of public health emergency due to COVID-19 pandemic. One of which is Work-From-Home arrangement.

A work-from-home arrangement is simply: you do your job at home, not in the office.

Among the jobs that may be allowed under a work-from-home arrangement include but not limited to research, policy formulation, project studies, data encoding, adjudication or review of cases, legal work, budget planning and forecasting, recording, examination and interpretation of financial records and reports, evaluation and formulation of accounting, auditing and management control systems, computer programming, database maintenance, sending or receiving emails HR tasks, and other analogous tasks.

However, while many of us would prefer this work arrangement, because who would not want the comfort of doing our job at home, there are jobs that are simply not suitable or cannot be done in a work-from-home arrangement. There are government employees that, whether they like it or not, they cannot do or bring their jobs at home.

1. Drivers and Messengers

While this is self-explanatory, drivers (who sometimes the messengers of other agencies) simply cannot avail of a work-from-home arrangement as who would they drive for at home? 2. Nurses, Doctors and other Medical Staff

3. Armed Forces (i.e., Police, Soldiers, etc.) and Traffic Enforcers

4. Utility Workers (i.e., janitors, sanitation keepers, etc.)

5. Security Guards

6. Garbage Collectors

7. Embalmers, Forensic Technicians, Mortuary Assistant, etc.
