Unveiled: The Top 10 Telltale Signs You’ve Transformed Into a Seasoned Government Accountant! You Won’t Believe #6!

Maturity is variable and can be interpreted in a million different ways. But we can all agree that a government accountant is, well, can be called matured when he does or has these 10 signs of maturity at work.

1. He weighs things up

He can easily weigh-in what’s allowable and not, based on what is written and what’s reasonable and justifiable, based on his experience.

2. He is not afraid

He is no longer afraid of audit findings just because he is already confident with his actions.

3. He is no longer easily annoyed

He is no longer easily annoyed by the mistakes committed by his staff or his colleagues, cause he too committed the same once or even multiple times before. He’s giving them rooms for improvement and of course share his/her ideas whenever necessary.

4. He strikes balance between his work and his personal life.

To him, it is normal to spend more time with work when one is still a newbie, but once one mastered how to tie the ropes, then it’s time to detangle himself from spending too much time in the Office.

5. He mastered the rules

He is able to apply and comply with practically almost all rules and regulations without upsetting his Boss.

He is able to convince his Boss that some things, while he may want it to do, cannot be done because it may compromise the coffers of the government.

6. He is always ready with alternatives

While he may disagrees with his Boss or colleagues most of the time, he makes sure that he can provide them with alternatives. He doesn’t disagrees with no reasons at all, or just because. However, he is stands firm when there’s no alternative though.

7. Time is most important to him

He leaves the Office when it’s time to go, but leaves his table with no unfinished tasks. Or, he may have unfinished tasks but these may be done in some other days without compromising public service.

8. What is his is his, what’s for the government is for the government

In other words, he doesn’t steal government funds, time and resources. He only gets what he deserves and totally avoid what he’s not. In other words, he knows how to say ‘no’ for all things illegal.

9. He puts government’s interests first before self

Taking care of the coffers of the government is always first in his heart whenever he signs financial documents.

He doesn’t want to be involved in anything that will put the government in disadvantageous position but nonetheless always weigh in what’s legally for the employees.

10. Integrity runs in his blood

To him, nothing can and will ever be more valuable than being able to retire from government service full of integrity, trustworthiness, and competence.
