Tuloy na tuloy ang pagpapatupad ng salary increase sa ilalim ng Salary Standardization Law V (SSL 5), ayun kay Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III.
Ayun kay Dominguez, “Normally, we would have waited three or four years before moving up to SSL 5 (Salary Standardization Law round 5). However, President [Rodrigo R. Duterte] has decided (to) propose SSL 5 and that will be legislated.”
Matatandaang binanggit ng Pangulong Duterte sa kanyang State of the Nation Address (SONA) na itataas nya ang sahod ng mga nurses, guro at mga manggagawa ng gobyerno.
Dagdag pa ng kalihim, ang SSL 5 ay “affordable” at meron na silang initial estimate ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
“We are down the very last numbers as will be proposed for the legislation and we can afford it. And that’s over three years. The initial estimates that we made together with Secretary Abuel were that well within our affordable range,” sabi ng kalihim.
Ngayong taon ang huling pagtaas ng sahod ng mga manggagawa ng gobyerno sa ilalim ng SSL IV na pinirmahan ng dating Pangulo Benigno Aquino III noong 2016.
