How to Spot a Genuine Philippine Banknote?
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas advises the public once more to properly check their banknotes to avoid receiving fake/counterfeit Philippine money.
In its Facebook post, the BSP says:
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) advises the public to carefully check their Philippine banknotes for identifiable security features to ascertain their genuineness.
The New Generation Currency (NGC) banknote series, currently in circulation, has the latest technology security features that are easily identifiable and difficult to counterfeit. The BSP advises the public to carefully Feel, Look and Tilt their banknotes to check for these security features, as illustrated below.
The BSP encourages the public to report any information on currency counterfeiting to the nearest police station or law enforcement agency, for appropriate action, or contact the Currency Management Sector for assistance at tel. nos. 988-4833 and 926-5092.
According to the said Facebook post, a genuine Philippine Banknote has the following security features:
1. FEEL
✅ It is printed in a security paper.
✅ It has embossed prints.
2. LOOK
✅ Genuine Philippine Banknotes have fine and clear prints.
✅ It also has watermark, security fiber, asymmetric serial number, and see-through mark.
3. TILT
When you tilt the banknote, you should see the following:
✅ Security Thread
✅ Concealed Value
✅ Optically Variable Ink
✅ Optically Variable Device Patch
