G/NEWS: BIR hiring more CPAs, lawyers

The Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) Regional Offices are now allowed to hire employees.

This after Revenue Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay approved Revenue Memorandum Order No. 36-2018 that decentralizes the Bureau’s recruitment program to expedite the filling up of thousands of vacant positions nationwide.

The said RMO was issued to attract more professionals by allowing regional offices to also handle the hiring process.

At present, the agency has 21,000 available platilla positions but only 10,600 are filled.

The salary of entry level position for CPAs in BIR is salary grade 11, while lawyers are salary grade 18. (See equivalent amount here)

According to the Revenue Memorandum, an applicant must bring three copies of personal data sheets with passport-size pictures, plus certified true copy of diploma and transcript of records.

The applicant must also bring certificate of membership from the Philippine Bar if he/she is a lawyer or Professional Regulation Commission ID if he/she is a CPA.
