Government Employees may receive ₱7,000 worth of Clothing Allowance in 2024

Government employees may receive an increase in their uniform and clothing allowance in 2024 if the budget proposal for the same gets approved.

In a statement, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said that it allocated P1.368 billion in the proposed budget for FY 2024 to fund the additional P1,000 in the uniform or clothing allowance of over 1.3 million government employees.

_“Alam naman po natin na ang anumang increase ay malaki ang maitutulong sa pang-araw-araw na pamumuhay ng ating mga public servants,” Budget Secretary Pangandaman said in the said statement.

The existing authorized uniform and clothing allowance of government employees is at ₱6,000 per year. If the budget proposal for the increase is approved the uniform and clothing allowance of government employees starting 2024 will be at ₱7,000 per year.

Pursuant to Section 54 of the General Provisions of the FY 2024 National Expenditure Program or the National Budget for FY 2024, an amount not exceeding ₱7,000.00 per year is hereby authorized for the payment of uniform and clothing allowance to each qualified government employee, subject to Budget Circular No. 2018-1 dated March 8, 2018, and subject to other guidelines issued by the DBM.

As with other national budgets, this proposal will still undergo the usual authorization and approval process before it becomes valid.
