The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (a.k.a PhilHealth) will abide by the directive of President Marcos Jr. to suspend the premium rate increase from 4.0% to 4.5% and the increase of income ceiling from P80,000 to P90,000 in CY 2023.
In its Official Statement, PhilHealth says: “In a meeting held on January 04, 2023, the Board of Directors of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) affirmed PhilHealth’s compliance with the directive from the President of the Philippines to suspend the premium rate increase from 4.0% to 4.5% and the increase of income ceiling from P80,000 to P90,000 in CY 2023.”
As a result, the premium rate for CY 2023 remains at 4% with income ceiling of P80,000 the guidelines of which for its implementation will be issued by PhilHealth.
Notwithstanding, PhilHealth assures the members that the current benefits they enjoy will not be affected by the said suspension. Further, PhilHealth assures the public that it is more than able to meet its financial oblugations despite this adjustment.
