Government Employees may Receive their Year End Bonus and Cash Gift earlier than November 15
Government employees will no longer have to wait for November 15 this year to receive their much awaited year-end bonus and cash gift.
This after the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) issued Budget Circular No. 2024-3 dated October 22 titled, “Amending Section 6.1 of Budget Circular No. 2016-4 on Payment of Year-End Bonus and Cash Gift.”
According to the newly-issued budget circular, the year-end bonus of government employees equivalent to one (1) month basic pay as of October 31 and Cash Gift of Php 5,000 shall be paid “simultaneously with the first agency payroll for the month of November of the current year” subject to conditions.
The new policy was issued due to the observation of the DBM that “government personnel continue to experience delays in receiving bonuses and cash gifts, affecting their morale, motivation, and level of job satisfaction.”
However, the subject policy may only benefit government employees who receive their 1st payroll earlier than 15th of the month such as those receiving their salary on a weekly basis. On the other hand, government employees whose 1st payroll fall on the 15th or later may not actually benefit from this policy: unless the DBM clarifies this otherwise.
