Q&A: When can a new employee claim uniform or clothing allowance?

Question

When can a new employee claim their uniform or clothing allowance?

Answer

A new government employee can receive their ₱7,000.00 uniform or clothing allowance after rendering six months of service, according to DBM Budget Circular No. 2024-1.

Hence, for instance, the new employee was hired in February this year, their agency can grant them their uniform or clothing allowance by September of this year.

It must be noted however that the agency shall determine the appropriate mode of providing the uniform or clothing allowance either thru cash, textile/cloth, or ready-to-wear uniform.
